An unpublished catalogue of the A. H. Church collection of Japanese sword-guards (tsuba) by Albert James Koop.
Various schools of guard-makers worked in the warlike province of Satsuma, including the Oda, the Kabayama, and the Chishiki. For the study of their work there exists as yet but scanty material. Their guards, however, appear in general to be comparatively heavy in design.
