Kinai (17th to 19th century)

Founded possibly by Kiami Kanenobu, who may have been a pupil of the Hōan, this school worked at Hiroshima, the capital of Aki province, and made perforated iron guards of bold design, often with gold or silver overlay for the details. They were probably influenced by the earlier masters of the Chōshū and Kinai schools. The signature is often merely Kiami [Japanese text].
