    The Barlow Collection

The vessel may have been modelled after a Song dynasty (AD 960–1279) incense burner, but its proportions are not known from that period, the legs are two thin and sharply pointed, and the glaze colour and texture are incorrect.

The cylindrical vessel has an inward turned rim and rests on three triangular feet with outward curved tips. The piece bears two horizontal incised lines around the centre and the feet are engraved with a ruyi-like motif. The olive-green glaze leaves only the tips of the feet and an uneven patch on the base free, where the reddish-burnt body is visible.
