  • kozuka

    The handle that holds the small knife called the kogatana.

  • shibuichi

    alloy of copper and silver, patinated to a dull grey-green colour

  • takaramono

    A Japanese lucky charm, or treasure.

    Japanese sword guard.

    Lenticular; in very flat or sunk relief, with engraving and iroye incrustation, are various of the Luck Objects (Takaramono); on the front; shippō, store-house key, bowl of three tama, hat and cloack of invisibility, Daikoku's mallet, a money-bag, fundō and chōji; at the back, Hotei's treasure-sack, a bale of rice, and two bundles of noshi; "cat-scratched" copper-gilt plug to kodzuka-hole. Signed: Sekijōken Motozane [as EAX.11010].
