    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Thin; apparently cut down to a rough oval from a slightly larger guard; pierced with two cloud forms and boldly encrusted in brass and pewter (the latter a very rare feature), on the front with two squirrels and a vine, on the back with clouds, two egrets, and a streamlet with reeds and an aoi plant; kōgai-hole of irregular shape, with shakudō plug.
