The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A band with alternating cartouche and square, the cartouche containing an inscription, the square a star-shaped medallion with a four-armed spiral.

The main embroidery is double running stitch in blue; the background of the square and spiral is filled with pulled work with white wrapping stitch worked in horizontal rows. This fragment has a selvedge at right angles to the band.
