The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A narrow band has a stepped s-pattern arranged in a row. The embroidery provides the background.

The band was at the edge of a garment, as the fragment has two layers of material carefully sewn together back to back. In addition there are rows of stitches at right angles to the border and at regular intervals, to hold the two layers together.
