A wading bird thriving in marshy wetlands, the Oriental White Ibis (or Black-headed Ibis) is widely found in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It has white or greyish plumage and a black head and legs. Shaikh Zain ud-Din’s study of this bird (identified here as buz) is among the last phase of commissions that he carried out for Lady Impey in 1782, shortly before the Impeys departed for England early in the following year.
