The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

Two bands, each with a large S-shape filled with small crosses, and borders with stylized plants. The embroidery colour alternates between red and brown; the brown S-shape is set into a red band with brown borders, while the red S-shape has a brown background and red borders.

The S-shapes and borders are embroidered in pattern darning running stitch, the background is covered with slanted counted filling stitch worked on the diagonal. There is the beginning of a third band. The two long edges of the fragment have hems; these are at right angles to the bands.
