    The Barlow Collection

    The small U-shaped bowl has a low straight foot, the domed cover has an everted rim and a small stalk-like knob. The bowl is carved with overlapping lotus petals on the outside, the cover is matchingly decorated with radiating petals around the knob. Both pieces are made of off-white stoneware, covered with an ivory-coloured glaze of smooth texture, which has pooled to a yellowish glassy layer on the rim of the cover. The bowl has an unglazed patch inside, an unglazed rim and a largely unglazed foot which has grit adhering; the rim which holds the cover in place is also free of glaze.
