    Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

    Quatrefoils and cartouches are linked to form a continuous design. They are filled with floral patterns. Small discs connect the cartouches. The pattern is red, partly with brown outlines, and it almost completely fills the white ground.

    At the edge one of the weaving systems is blue. The pattern is printed over the blue-and-white area; there are remains of stitching. The size of the block used was 9.5 cm. x 9.5 cm. The reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface.
