The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A narrow band of diamonds alternating with crosses. The diamonds are set into turquoise squares, the crosses have a fine black frame. All outlines are embroidered in double running stitch, the turquoise areas are filled with split stitch, and the yellow areas are embroidered with slanted counted filling stitch worked in diagonal rows. Satin stitch is used for the border, as well as four some yellow details.

The fragment is identical in design and certain technical characteristics to EA1984.473.
