The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A narrow band with alternating circles and ovals. The circles are all turquoise, the ovals alternate between blue and brown, with remains of yellow outlines. All outlines are embroidered in split stitch; the blue and turquoise circles and ovals are done in diagonal filling stitch worked on the diagonal, the brown ovals in couching stitch.

The two short sides of the textile have a finely rolled hem, whipped with silk.
