    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Three large peony flowers with leaves (venation and other details gilt), within or slightly overlapping the plain narrow border.

    E. Gilbertson Collection, no.1240. Closely resembles in design Nos. 536 and 540, and still more so No. 322; but the styles of all these are very different, the best being the iron Chōshū guard no. 322. Compare also a guard in the Furukawa Collection, no.105.
