The fire ordeal of Siyavush

Description
In this painting, Siyavush, the son of the Iranian king Kay Kavus, demonstrates his innocence against his step mother’s accusations by riding through a fire and remaining unharmed. This is one of the most famous episodes of the Persian epic of the Shahnama, composed by Abu’l-Qasim Firdawsi in AD 1010.
