This scene, from the Haft Paykar (Seven Portraits), relates the encounter of Prince Bahram Gur with the shepherd who hung his dog for being disloyal. Expected to guide and protect the flock in his absence, the dog had in fact allowed a she-wolf to steal the sheep after mating with her.
