The Barlow Collection
The dish is deeply rounded and has a low tapering foot. It is finely carved with a central lotus spray with a stylized bloom and leaves emerging from a more naturalistically rendered lotus leaf at the bottom, all carved in slight relief with incised detail. The sides are incised with a formalized lotus scroll and a classic-scroll rim border, and another lotus scroll with a sketchy key-fret border on the outside. The yellowish-green glaze fully covers the piece except for a broad ring on the base where the piece was supported during firing. The biscuit has burnt a yellowish-brown and shows traces of the ring-shaped firing support.
