The Barlow Collection
The octagonal cup flares from a sharp angle towards a wide mouth, and rests on a tall circular foot, which is hollowed out underneath and has a chamfered edge at the base. The centre inside is incised with a seven-petalled flower-head, the rim with a sketchy key-fret border; the outside shows a quickly incised flower spray on each facet with upright petals below, and long pendant petals with combed detail at the foot, below a double raised rib. The light yellowish-green glaze leaves the underside of the foot largely free, the biscuit has turned brick-red.
