    Decorative technique in which wires are attached to a metal body and coloured enamels are applied between the wires.

    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Narrow border enclosing a ring of size disks joined by slender bars; two are interrupted by the sd., two by the trifoliate kodzuka-hole; each is inlaid on both faces, within a narrow raised border, with a design in gold wire and gold-cloisonné enamel; these designs (maple-tree, plum-tree, narcissus, two fans, and scrolls) are repeated identically or in reverse at the back; edge inlaid with seven cloud-forms in gold wire (two wanting) on a ground of engraved fret.
