    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Mokkō; on both faces and edge of the very wide raised border are two flying "phoenixes" (hōō) and cloudes in bold low-relief modelling and incrustation of gold with a little copper; on the field are the flowering branches of a paulownia tree in the same technique (no copper). Signed: Ishiguro Masayoshi [Japanese text] saku. (Pupil of Sano Naoyoshi and of Ishiguro Masatsune I; he loved to be about 70.)
