The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

In fine modelling and bold iroye incrustation a hunter, with straw helmet, single sword and matchlock, stands blowing a deer-call; near him is a small cascade, in the distance are hills and the waning moon; at the back in sunk relief are a fallow deer and doe benearh a pine-tree. Signed: Kwanzui ([Japanese text]). (Probably Murota Kwanzui II, pupil of Iwama Masayoshi.)
