The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

Treated on each face as if in two layers, the upper pierced in irregular curves and encrusted with a flight of tiny egrets in silver with gold legs and shakudō beaks, with raised engraved clouds; the lower modelled as waves with men in ferry-boats, a water-wheel, herbage, etc., the details in tinted gold, silver and shakudō.
