  • The A.H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba) by Albert James Koop

The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

Fifteen alternate layers of ruby copper and shakudō with two outer ones of shibuichi; modelled with 16 chrysanthemum florets, each voided, but the piercing done at so oblique an angle that, looked at directly, it is imperceptible, only the slopes of the hollows being seen, revealing the guri strata; red copper plug to kozuka-hole with treble nanako punching.
