    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Bronze of dark brown patina. Mokkō; the border bevelled inwards, the field pierced with an inome (heart-shaped hole) at each angle; kozuka-hole enlarged to cloud form; surface of field gently depressed towards all edges; cast on each face with the same three badges (kiri, five-pointed star form, daki-gashiwa) in relief on a ground of finely engraved karakusa.
