    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Rounded oblong; polished surface covered with punch-marks, including the character [Japanese character] (tsukuru, "made") 19 times, a seal form of [Japanese text] (see signature) within a vase nine times, and four more or less faint versions of a rough [six-sided star, see Fig. 5] form; udenuki holes.

    Signed (in swordsmiths' style): Naniwa no jū ([Japanese text], "resident of Ōsaka") Minamoto no ([Japanese text]) Sadakazu ([Japanese text]).
