    Chinese Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

    Chen Chi Kwan was born in Peking in 1921 but spent his youth in Sichuan province, where he qualified as an architect in 1944, at the Central University then displaced from the capital Nanking. In the 1950s he worked in the United States as both an architect, including a stint as instructor in architecture at Massachussets Institute of Technology, and as a painter; he has been equally involved in both fiels in Taiwan, where he now lives.
