    Chinese Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

    Chen Wen His was from Jieyang in Guangdong but at the age of sixteen moved to Shanghai, where his teachers at the Xinhua Academy included Pan Tianshou. He graduated in 1932, and taught and exhibited throughout south China and southeast Asia. His work includes oils and paintings combining Chinese and Western styles, as well as those in traditional Chinese technique. In 1949 he settled in Singapore, where he was lecturer at the Nanyang College of Fine Arts.
