Mangrove tree

Description
Guan Shanyue was a Lingnan School artist from Guangzhou who achieved national prominence and painted landscapes from all over China. The mangrove tree in this painting, which is a tropical plant that can be found along the south China coast, is painted in traditional style with dense ink. The bright blue dots are typical of the artist’s use of that colour in the late 1980s.

Guan Shanyue is an artist of the Lingnan School from Canton who achieved national prominence and painted landscapes from all over China. The tree, a mangrove, is painted in traditional style with dense ink, while the bright blue dian (dots) are typical of the artist's use of that colour in the late 1980s.
