Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

A continuous design of squares, each with a pearl border and a small, interlaced knot at the centre, eight-petalled flowers, quatrefoils, and diamonds. The pattern is defined by red outlines on a white ground, and some details are filled in with light blue.

It is not certain how the dyes were applied. The reverse shows areas where there is more red than on the surface, and others where there is less. There is no sign of the use of resist for the application of blue.
