Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Two bands, one with two types of stylized trees alternating, one with a tall trunk and three branches, the other with two flowering branches emerging from the base, as in Cat. no. 929 [EA1990.935]. The trees are red with white details, against a blue ground. The second band possibly shows elongated leaves, blue on a red ground. However, the design is difficult to read. An additional pattern appears on a fragment that is sewn on, but this is unrecognizable.

A second fragment is sewn onto the main fabric; it has a selvedge at the seam and measures 19 cm. (warp) x 4.5 cm. (weft). The reverse shows more dye saturation than the surface. The red or brown has very badly deteriorated.
