Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

A band of eight-petalled rosettes set into a beaded roundel, and at a right angle to it there are two parallel bands, one with linked diamonds in a row, the other with three rows of small six-petalled rosettes each set into a white disc. Fragments of script appear on a curve, possibly part of a circlular form. In general, the patterns are outlined in white against a red ground, with some details picked out in brown.

The design is coarsely executed. The reverse is heavily saturated with red dye. The fragment of script reads 'perpetuity'.
