Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

A continuous design of thick, interlacing tendrils, brown with white outlines on red ground, and linked with red quatrefoils which have heart-shaped leaves filled with white tendrils and a brown centre, again filled with tendrils and a small rosette. A second fragment has a red band with white rosettes, small squares and tendrils, and a brown band with a continuous vine as well as a row of small arches, both in white.

Three fragments are sewn together with flat seams; the third one is red and is inserted as a wedge. The reverse shows less dye saturation than the surface.
