Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

Ornate scrolls with tendrils added and an eight-petalled rosette at the centre of each scroll, identical to Cat. no. 250 [EA1990.259]. The resist defines the design, the background is blue.

The Textile Museum has a fragment that is virtually identical, although the scrolls are reversed. The design is in the same style as a fragment illustrated in Irwin and Hall, although the specific pattern is different. There are remains of sewing thread. Design and technical details are identical to Cat. no. 250 [EA1990.259], and both fragments may have been part of the same fabric.
