Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
A band of narrow chevrons and a wavey line of dots; in addition a large stylized form, possibly a double-headed eagle (see Pfister 1938: 78). The design is defined by the resist, the background and some of the filling is red.
The fragment is made up from two pieces sewn together with an open seam. The part with the ?eagle has a selvedge; its measurement is 22 cm. x 8 cm. The reverse is saturated with dye.
