The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

Overall grid pattern of red diagonal lines. At the intersection of the lines a red quatrefoil is added. In addition, there is a blue band with a stylized continuous vine, leaves and trefoil. The design is worked in double running stitch, mostly stepped, but there is an additional line of single cross stitches separating each band.

The textile is sewn together from two pieces, both with the same design, but in reversed order.
