The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A large patchwork fragment made up of squares within squares, all arranged in diamond patterns. The buttonhole eyelet embroidery is arranged into a floral pattern, as quatrefoils and rosettes.

The fragment has a seam down the middle.

The radiocarbon date indicates an Ottoman date for the patchwork piece, of 1599 AD +/- 37.
