The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

A band with a blue inscription running between two parallel brown lines embroidered on either side, and above it a row of alternating blue trefoils and brown crescents or flowers.

The band has been sewn onto a ground fabric of flax. The edge is a false hem, and on the reverse are the remains of two run-and-fell seams; possibly it was once the cuff of a sleeve. The double chain stitch is unusual for Egypt.
