The Newberry Collection of Islamic Embroideries

Two bands are parallel to each other, but set apart. Their design is made up from small squares containing ?quatrefoils; they also have a border with a small comb pattern. The bands are set diagonally to a very narrow border band with a continuous stylized vine, placed parallel to the selvedge.

At the selvedge the flax warp is replaced by silk, which results in a much higher warp threadcount of 40 per centimeter.
