Description
The Buddhist temple of Kiyomizudera, with its famous wooden platform made entirely without nails, was one of the most famous tourist destinations in Kyoto. The textile was made by the Aoki embroidery firm, based in the city of Hikone on the eastern shores of Lake Biwa, an area called Kotō (literally the East of the Lake). (Exhibition number 28)
