This painting was probably painted during the artist’s tour across China in 1960 with other artists from the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Academy. Though in October, the weather in Chengdu is still as mild as in Spring, suitable for growing a second round of crops. Thus the artist depicts busy peasants working under flower branches, a scene that can only be seen in south China.
