Ye Mingren, from Shanghai, specialises in calligraphy and seal carving. In this work he uses paper divided into squares in red ink, in the style of calligraphy practise books. The characters are formed in a style that is part practice-work, part square style as seen on carved stones of the Han dynasty (220 BC-AD 220).
