Shirabyōshi Shizuka (白拍子静)

Description
The woman here is Shizuka Gozen, concubine of the famous twelfth-century warrior Minamoto Yoshitsune. She is dressed as a shirabyōshi court dancer. Shirabyōshi were always women, who dressed in men’s clothes to perform dances for the gods.
