Landscape in the style of Wang Meng

Description
Yang Tianbi is known to have lived in Shangyuan (present-day Nanjing, Jiangsu province) in the first half of the 19th century. He painted panoramas and historical subjects as well as landscapes and bamboo. According to the inscription, this painting is in the style of Wang Meng. Wang Meng (1301-1385), also known as Wang Shuming or Huanghe shanqiao, was among the Four Great Masters of the Yuan period (1271-1368). This work is typical of Wang Meng's landscape style, with the crowded composition and the furry texture achieved by various types of cun brushstrokes.

Yang Tianbi is not recorded in much detail, but it is known that he was resident in Shangyuan (present-day Nanjing, Jiangsu) in the first half of the nineteenth century. He painted panoramas and historical subjects as well as landscapes and bamboo.
