Red-vented Bulbul

  • Description

    Bird studies were a popular genre in Mughal painting from the 17th century. This later and boldly painted example depicts a red-vented bulbul, a species found in many parts of India. These bulbuls were often tamed and kept on perches or as cage-birds.
