    Indian Block-Printed Textiles in Egypt: The Newberry Collection in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

    S-shapes, eight-petalled rosettes without central dots, and quatrefoils, as in Cat. no. 1 [EA1990.9]. Additional (?)border design of four parallel bands, showing (a) a blue-white zigzag, (b,d) a continuous vine with separate leaves, and (c) a row of simple crosses and dots. While the reserve defines the design generally against a blue background, the crosses and dots of (c) are blue against a light ground.

    Overlapping of block edges in band design and continuous pattern. In the latter the width of the block is 7 cm.
