Maharao Ram Singh of Kota in durbar

    Maharao Ram Singh II (r.1827-1866), seated on the left, receives another chief, probably from a Central Indian kingdom, at a durbar reception in a garden pavilion. In front of them the visitor’s ceremonial gifts are laid out, comprising eight trays of fine textiles and jewellery and European style candlesticks.
