    Catalogue of Islamic Seals and Talismans

    Cornelian; bezel (the front face is slightly rounded), bevelled towards the front; oval; back angle is slightly cut. The inscription is found in a script ensemble in the central ground (A), with one oval line around, and in the border (B), with another oval line around. One script ensemble (A) and one script line (B); cursive script; engraved.

    A - Muḥammad is the Prophet of God, `Alī is the Sincere Friend of God محمد نبي الله على ولى الله
    B - In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Call upon `Alī, the manifestor of miracles. Thou shalt find him a help unto thee in adversities. All care and grief shall vanish by thy prophecy, oh Muḥammad, by thy holiness, oh `Alī
