    Chinese Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

    Yang Borun, whose name is sometimes considered Peifu and his zi Borun, was from a literati family in Jiaxing, Zhejiang and was resident in Shanghai during the Xianfeng (1851-62) period. He participated in the Yu Yuan Painting Association. He was well-known for his calligraphy, particularly running and grass script, as well as landscape painting.
