    The A. H. Church Collection of Japanese Sword-Guards (Tsuba)

    Various writers' implements.

    They include a paperweight (square rod with brass knob), two writing-brushes, two worn sticks of ink, two midzuire (water-droppers, one representing peach, the other chrysanthemum), and three suzuri (slate ink-palettes, one oblong, one oval, one of irregular shape). The midzuire and suzuri show their upper surface on both faces of the guard, with slightly different detail.
