Wang Wuxie moved with his family to Hong Kong where he joined the Hong Kong Art Club and in 1956 the Modern Literature and Art Association. He studied painting first under Lü Shoukun, and from 1961 to 1965 in the USA. He became assistant curator in the Hong Kong City Hall Museum and Art Gallery. From 1984 he lived for some years in the States, but by 1997 Hong Kong had become his permanent home.
